SAROAD has new Regional Coordinator

The Southern African Regional Office of Astronomy for Development (SAROAD) has appointed Prospery C. Simpemba as the new Regional Coordinator after the resignation of Moola Mutondo last year. Prospery Simpemba has been acting in this position and brings to the organisation, vast experience in organising astronomy activities in the sub-region and the continent at large. Prospery was the 2009 International Year of Astronomy Single Point of Contact (SPoC) for Zambia. He has served as Africa Regional Coordinator for Africa under the Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC) from 2010 to 2012. The Regional Coordinator oversees the activities of the regional node and reports to the International Astronomical Union (IAU) through the Office of Astronomy for Development (OAD).
